Being able to participate on a GMT trip is an experience I am forever grateful for. I was able to serve the people of the DR alongside my best friends and some of the most amazing doctors I’ve ever met. I built many new friendships as well and learned so much along the way. Immersing myself in a new culture opened my eyes to all the beauties the world has to offer. I left a piece of my heart in the Dominican Republic cannot wait for the day I am able to return.

Before this GMT trip, I had never traveled out of the country for any reason other than a vacation. I was excited to have a cultural experience with a meaningful impact. I was blessed to have the opportunity to see so much of the Dominican Republic, practice my spanish (which I’ve learned in school but never practiced), and most importantly, have the chance to see patients and help them with their ailments. Although we can’t provide long term care, it was sweet to play a role in their healthcare and it is something I will remember forever!
